Why did you choose Daemen College?

My brother graduated from the PT program at Daemen and I knew that his education was excellent. The 5-year BS/MS PA program was what really led me to go to Daemen. Finally, the college is also close to where I live, so I could easily commute.

Why did you choose your present major?

I have always wanted to help others and I believe that a career as a physician assistant will allow me to do so. Also, there is so much more versatility with being a PA. If I were a doctor and specialized in something like orthopedic surgery, I would be stuck in that field for my life.

Do you live on campus? Please tell us about your on-campus experience.

I do not live on campus. I commute from Tonawanda, which is about a 15 to 20-minute drive. I practically live on campus, though. Sometimes I have a six-hour break between classes and I don’t like to waste gas driving home, so I stay on campus with friends. Since I have become friends with a lot of residents, I like to bring them to places the classic Buffalo places like Mighty Taco and Paula’s Donuts.

What do you like best about Daemen College?

I really like the size of Daemen and the friendly atmosphere.

What is your favorite campus hangout? Why?

My favorite place to hang out is the Den, especially when there is free food. I also like to study on the second floor of the library.

What clubs or organizations have you been a part of here at Daemen College? What kinds of things do they do?

I was the President of Students Without Borders (SWOB). We are a non-profit humanitarian organization composed of and directed by physician assistant students. As members of this club, we serve the Western New York community by actively supporting the local Ronald McDonald House, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Wings Flights of Hope, Harvest House, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Most notably, each year we travel to a small disadvantaged village in the Dominican Republic to host a five-day free healthcare clinic. I am also a member of the Physician Assistant Student Society (PASS), a group devoted to WNY-community involvement and PA student wellness. PASS organizes some excellent events to augment the interpersonal student relationships as well.
