International students who are interested in applying for admission to Daemen College must show satisfactory grades and coursework in their home country and all other schools attended. Students must also display adequate English Language skills and verification of sufficient financial support.

Undergraduate freshmen: Submit all official secondary (high school) transcripts or mark sheets. Official transcripts must be sent directly from the student's school.

Undergraduate transfers and Graduate students: Submit post-secondary (college/university) transcripts. All international transcripts must be sent through a credit evaluation service that will evaluate transcripts to the American grading system and course equivalencies. We recommend using World Education Services, Josef Silny Associates, or Educational Credential Evaluators.

Step 3

Submit the TOEFL or IELTS exam score (this is required for students whose native language is NOT English). Daemen College Institutional code for the TOEFL exam is 2762.

Step 4 - Personal Essay

Please write an essay of at least 250 words on a topic of your choice or on one of the options listed.  This personal essay helps us become acquainted with you as a person and student, apart from courses, grades, test scores, and other objective data. You can write about a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you; Discuss some issue of personal, local, national, or international concern and its importance to you.

Admission Requirements

Admission decisions are based on overall Grade Point Average (GPA) and English score such as the TOEFL and IELTS. Students from an English speaking country are NOT required to submit a TOEFL and IELTS. The GPA requirement is based on the U.S. grading scale of 4.0.

Undergraduate Requirements

  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Minimum TOEFL score 77 or IELTS 6.5
  • Minimum ELS level 112

The following undergraduate programs have specific GPA requirements:

  • Physical Therapy: Minimum GPA 3.1
  • Nursing 1+2+1: Minimum GPA 3.1
  • Athletic Training: Minimum GPA 2.7

SAT or ACT is required for Education, Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, and Nursing applicants.

Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate their proficiency in the English language by taking the TOEFL iBT test. The test scores must be submitted directly to CASPA and the full report must be received by the Daemen PA department by January 1. The minimum requirements as stated below are specific to the Physician Assistant Department and does not represent the requirements of the Institution.

Graduate Requirements

  • The minimum GPA requirement for most graduate programs is a 3.0*
  • Nursing Education, M.S. and Nursing Executive Leadership, M.S. require a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or above (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Most graduate programs require a minimum 77 TOEFL or 6.5 IELTS or ELS level 112
  • The MPH program requires a minimum 85 TOEFL or 6.5 IELTS or ELS level 112
  • GRE or GMAT score within the 50% percentile for Education majors

English Requirements

International students for whom English is a non-native language must submit a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System). Students who receive a score lower than the minimum requirement will be required to enroll in an Intensive English Language Program (IELP).

Conditional Admission

Daemen offers conditional admission to students meeting the academic requirement with TOEFL scores higher than 69 or IELTS scores higher than a 5.5. Students will receive a conditional admission accept letter and will be required to attend an ESL program to increase their English Language. Once a student meets the minimum English Requirement they will receive an acceptance letter.
