March is Women 's History Month!!
In commemoration of Women's History Month, the heroic contributions and commitment of women in the military will be highlighted at a special event being held on Tuesday, 21st March at Daemen College. "Unsung Heroes: The History of Women in the Military" will take place in Daemen's Research and Information Commons Building, Room 120, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public!
The event will kick off with a screening of "Unsung Heroes: The Story of America's Female Patriots," a documentary that tells the inspirations saga of course and sacrifice of women who have served in the military. Produced by Academy Award winner Ron Howard, the documentary tells the story of female patriots though interviews, rare photographs, archival materials, and personal memorabilia.
Following the screening, a panel of women veterans who have served in combat will discuss their service. Panelists will include Laureen Barone, Nerfis Elminowski, Lynn Magistrate, and Jennifer Weise.

Veteran Fishing Day
On Saturday June 24th from 10AM until 4PM, the Veterans One Stop Center of Western New York will be hosting their veterans fishing day and will be held at the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge. There will be open fishing all day(NO fishing license required!), free fishing poles and equipment will be provided, and classes will be held for first timers.
