SVA Screening of "Almost Sunrise"
At 6:00pm on Friday, April 28th, the Daemen Student Veterans Alliance will be hosting a screening of the documentary "Almost Sunrise" in RIC 120. The film Follows two veterans on a therapeutic 2,700 mile walk across America in order to raise awareness for PTSD, and veterans suicide issues. Military Hiring Fair
On Friday, June 9th, there will be a military hiring fair with local and national companies, "Hiring our Heroes" at The Knights (2735 Union Rd. Cheektowaga NY 14227), which will run from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Starting at 8:30 AM there will also be workshops for participants to get tips on resume writing, networking and interview strategies. All veterans, active duty personnel and military spouses are welcome to attend, please see the attached flyer for more information.
Veteran Fishing Day
On Saturday June 24th from 10AM until 4PM, the Veterans One Stop Center of Western New York will be hosting their veterans fishing day and will be held at the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge. There will be open fishing all day(NO fishing license required!), free fishing poles and equipment will be provided, and classes will be held for first timers. Erie County DOH Lead Safety Course
If you're interested in expanding your skill set and enhance your employment competitive background, the Erie County Department of Health provides free training for veterans in Lead Safety for Renovations, Repair and Painting. This training leads to a certified skill and could be an advantage when seeking a job. The attached flyer offers many opportunities for participating in this training program.
