AMHERST, N.Y. – Daemen College has been named one of Upstate New York’s top 30 “hardest colleges to get into” as based on admission rates in new rankings released by Syracuse’s Post-Standard newspaper.

Daemen joins other prestigious Upstate New York colleges and universities ranked on the inaugural list, including Colgate University, Vassar College, Skidmore College, and the University of Rochester.

“We are proud to earn this regional distinction and to be included among such prominent institutions in Upstate New York,” said Daemen President Gary A. Olson. “The quality of our applicants speaks to a growing recognition of our academic excellence and the outstanding educational experience we provide to our students.”

According to the Post-Standard, the regional top 30 list is based on college admission rates from the 2014-15 academic year provided by colleges and universities to the federal Department of Education.

“We are pleased with the continued strength of our applicant pool and have welcomed many high-achieving, talented students to our college community,” said Dr. Patricia Ruppert Brown, vice president for enrollment management. “The great demand for a Daemen education is a reflection of our exceptional programs and faculty and the opportunities we offer that enhance the college experience.”
