Daemen Selected As a Military Friendly School

Feb 18, 2020

AMHERST, N.Y. – Daemen College has been named for the 11th consecutive year as a Military Friendly School, a prestigious designation that makes it one of the best colleges in the country for veterans to receive a college education.

The 2020-21 Military Friendly Schools distinction is awarded to schools in recognition of their commitment and efforts to help veterans make the transition from the military to college and to successful careers.

“We are proud to be named once again among the best Military Friendly Schools in the nation,” said Daemen President Gary Olson. “Student veterans are valued members of our college community, and we remain committed to providing exceptional resources, tools, and support to ensure their educational and career success.”

Institutions are evaluated using public data sources, survey responses from participating institutions, and student survey information.  Final ratings are based on student retention, graduation rate, job placement, loan repayment and default rates, and persistence (degree advancement or transfer).

“Receiving this designation is important for all of us at Daemen who work hard to serve our veteran and military aligned students who have served our country,” said Dr. Greg Nayor, vice president for strategic initiatives.

The 2020-21 Military Friendly Schools list was recently released by Viqtory, which connects the military community to civil employment and educational opportunities. The list will be published in the May issue of G.I. Jobs magazine and is also available at www.militaryfriendly.com.

Consistently ranked as a top military friendly and veteran supportive college, Daemen coordinates its veteran services through the college’s Nancy Haberman Gacioch Center for Veterans. The center offers a place on campus where veterans, active duty service members, and military aligned students may study or connect with other students with military service.

Also, the Daemen Student Veterans Alliance serves is an active advocacy organization for student veterans, and hosts campus events throughout the academic year.
