AAUW Grant to Support Study Abroad Experience

May 1, 2018

AMHERST, N.Y. – The American Association of University Women (AAUW) Buffalo Branch has awarded a 2018 Chamberlin Fund Grant to Daemen College student Taqiyah Gibbons.

The grant provides financial support for educational expenses for female college students. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, potential for achieving their academic and career goals, and financial need.

Gibbons, a Dean’s List student, will use the grant toward a study abroad experience to Africa she will participate in this summer.

“AAUW’s support will make it possible for me pursue my dream of studying abroad, which I have wanted to do since my first year at Daemen,” said Gibbons. “I am truly grateful for receiving this grant and excited about going on this journey over the summer.”

Gibbons is a history major with minors in public history, pre-law studies, criminal justice, and black studies. She will receive her degree in May and will have the opportunity to take part in the study abroad experience as a Daemen Class of 2018 graduate.

She is a resident of Yonkers.
