Mar 19, 2021AMHERST, N.Y. (March 18, 2021) – The Center for Youth Sports Excellence has received a $102,300 grant from the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation to offer a strategic assistance program for 50 youth sports organizations over the next three years. This program was developed and is supported by the Business Administration Department’s sports management faculty and students at Daemen College.
There are three components of this nine-month program. First, each participating organization will receive a formal assessment of their current operations. Second, the leaders of the organizations will engage in development seminars covering best practices in strategic planning, marketing and branding, financial management, and board and volunteer relations. Finally, after each seminar, a consulting team will work with each organization to improve overall effectiveness.
“Most youth sport organizations are volunteer led. Traditionally, this means that these resources lack the financial and human capital to engage in full-scale organizational development. The strategic assistance program benefits the hundreds of organizations and thousands of families in Western New York that participate in youth sports by providing affordable, professional, experienced business consulting and training to organizations,” said Darren Treadway, Ph.D., director of the Center for Excellence in Youth Sports, Daemen College.
