Dec 23, 2015AMHERST, N.Y. – Margene Weiss, director of conferences and events at Daemen College, has been appointed to the Council for the Advancement of Standards (CAS) in Higher Education Board of Directors.
CAS, which is comprised of 41 member organizations and more than 100,000 professionals from across the U.S., develops and promotes assessment standards in student affairs, student services and student development programs.
“I’m excited to join the CAS board, and I look forward to working with my colleagues on national assessment standards in higher education,” said Weiss, who is serving on the CAS board as a delegate from the Association of Collegiate Conference and Events Directors-International (ACCED-I).
Active in ACCED-I, Weiss is chair of the organization’s Collegiate Conference and Events Professional Certification Program. She previously served as regional director and conference hospitality co-chair and is a frequent presenter at organization conferences. She was honored with the Jack Thornton Leadership Award and the Collegiate Conference and Events Professional Award from ACCED-I, and was named a Mentor of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.
Weiss, who has held her director role at Daemen since 1992, earned a master’s degree in counseling/higher education from Ohio State University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in sociology from Gettysburg College.
She resides in Amherst.
