AMHERST, N.Y. – Daemen College’s annual All High Exhibition showcasing artwork by high school juniors and seniors from across the Buffalo Niagara region will commemorate its 50^th year with an opening reception at 1 p.m. Feb. 10 in the Elizabeth C. Tower Gallery in the Haberman Gacioch Art Center.

The opening reception, which is being hosted by the Daemen Visual and Performing Arts Department, will begin with an awards ceremony for the juried competition featuring a range of student artwork.

Daemen scholarships totaling more than $30,000 will be presented to students for artwork selected as Best in Show, Illustration, Graphic Design, Painting, Photography, Print, New Media, and Three-Dimensional Work, as well as honorable mentions. Winners will also receive cash awards courtesy of Daemen and the Buffalo Society of Artists.       

As part of the All High Exhibition, Daemen seniors majoring in graphic design collaborated during the fall semester on a campaign and branding concept for the event. Based on an advertising agency model, the college served as the client and information was shared with students on marketing goals, target audiences, and other details. The student team then developed a campaign for the All High Exhibition, including a branding concept, promotional materials, budget, and vendors.

“For our graphic design students, this semester-long project is an integral part of their studies that allows them to gain real-world job experience and hone their skills, which will greatly benefit them in their careers,” said Christian Brandjes, director of the Daemen Visual and Performing Arts Department. “Students applied their knowledge, talents, and creativity to a project that will be seen by many in the community.”

The All High Exhibition will be on display through Feb. 22 in the Tower Gallery, located on the first floor of the arts center. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
