AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen College Nancy Haberman Gacioch Entrepreneurship Lecture Series for the spring semester will feature the founder of a technology startup and the CEO of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC).

Kicking off this semester’s lectures will be Rob Hunter, founder and CEO of HigherMe, who will speak at 5 p.m. Feb. 22 in the Research and Information Commons Room 120. HigherMe, a winner in last year’s 43North startup competition, assists retail and restaurant employers with finding, screening, and hiring better employees.

An entrepreneur since childhood, Hunter previously owned several Marble Slab ice cream stores, where he experienced the challenges of finding and screening great staff. He has also sold real estate and been involved in other entrepreneurial ventures.

The next lecture series event will feature Matthew Enstice, CEO of the BNMC, at 5 p.m. April 5 in the Alumni Lounge.

In his role with the BNMC, Enstice is leading an initiative to build on the assets of the medical campus to support its mission of furthering economic growth, igniting urban revitalization, and building a strong, thriving community. Under his leadership, the BNMC is working on building a robust culture of entrepreneurism and other revitalization goals.

The lectures, which are sponsored by the Daemen Entrepreneurship Program, are free and open to the public.

The 2016-17 Nancy Haberman Gacioch Entrepreneurship Lecture Series is featuring entrepreneurs who recognize the potential that exists in the Buffalo Niagara region through development, revitalization efforts, new programming, job creation, or collaborative endeavors.
