AMHERST, N.Y. – Warsaw’s POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews will be discussed by Dr. Karolina Krasuska, an expert on cultural studies, at a lecture scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 3 in Daemen College’s Research and Information Commons Room 120.

In her lecture, Krasuska will explore the vision and purpose of the museum, which is the first and only museum dedicated to preserving the history of Polish Jews on such a scale. The museum, which opened in 2014 on the site of the former Warsaw Ghetto, includes a core exhibition showcasing the 1,000-year history of Polish Jews, educational events, conferences, and collections.

Krasuska, currently a visiting assistant professor of history at Daemen, is an assistant professor at the University of Warsaw’s American Studies Center, where her teaching focuses on Jewishness and memory. She is also a member of the Gender and Literature research group at the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Daemen’s lecture, which is free and open to the public, is being held as part of the 2017 Polish Cultural Festival.

The event is being co-sponsored by the Polish Arts Club of Buffalo and the Daemen College Polish Studies Center, which is also hosting an exhibition of artwork by Polish artist Wieslaw Skibinski on display through Oct. 27 in the Karamanoukian Gallery in the Haberman Gacioch Arts Center.
