Dec 10, 2015AMHERST, N.Y. -- Residents in Buffalo’s Seneca Babcock neighborhood received free health screenings from Daemen College physician assistant students at a community health fair held last month at the Seneca Street Church.
A group of 18 Daemen PA students, who were supervised by Associate Professor Joel Patterson, provided diabetes, blood pressure and other preventive screenings at the Seneca Babcock Health Fair. Now in its 10th year, services offered at the health fair have benefitted nearly 550 neighborhood residents since the event was started.
The community outreach effort was co-sponsored by the Daemen Physician Assistant Society and the college’s Center for Sustainable Communities and Civic Engagement, which has a neighborhood partnership with Seneca Babcock to address various issues that affect the neighborhood’s sustainability and future growth and development.
“The health fair connects PA students with the community and gives them the opportunity to provide valuable screenings that can help improve the quality of life for disadvantaged.
