AMHERST, N.Y. -- The talents and perseverance of Daemen College’s graduating Visual and Performing Arts students will be recognized with an online Senior Exhibit that will be officially launched via Zoom at 4:30 p.m. May 13.

“These young artists, designers, illustrators, animators, and teachers have overcome many challenges and shown great strength and dedication during this unprecedented time,” said Dr. Robert Waterhouse, chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. “We are proud to have this opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of our VPA Class of 2020, and we are confident they will go on to great success in their careers.”

Featured artistic works by seniors in animation, art, art education, design, and illustration are being showcased on artshow.daemen.edu, which includes bios on each student. Messages of congratulations from VPA faculty are also posted on the site.

Graduating VPA seniors traditionally showcase their works at an end of the year exhibit in thePeter and Elizabeth C. Tower Gallery in the Haberman Gacioch Arts Center. However, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, VPA faculty members reformatted the exhibit so that student artwork may be presented virtually.

“Thanks to the creativity of our VPA students and the assistance of our information technology division, we were able to put together this alternative virtual option for our senior show,” said Casey Kelly, assistant professor of graphic design. “This online event will help us stay connected and allow for a wonderful celebration with our Daemen community, family, and friends.”
