4+1 Dual Degree Program Between D’Youville College School Of Pharmacy and Daemen College Master of Public Health Program
Students are offered the opportunity to earn a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) from D’Youville College and a Master of Public Health degree (MPH) from Daemen College in a five-year program. The PharmD will be awarded through D’Youville College after four years and the Master of Public Health degree (MPH) will be awarded through Daemen College after the fifth year of study. This format saves time and money compared to the six years it would take to complete each degree separately.
Program Information
Students who are interested in the dual degree program are encouraged to apply to the PharmD program at D’Youville College. Admission requirements for the professional (PharmD) program, including pre-requisite courses and evaluation criteria, are available on the D’Youville School of Pharmacy website.
Dual degree students will apply to the “professional phase” of the MPH program at the end of the second year of the PharmD program. This will provide the opportunity for a review of a students’ academic records by Daemen College the semester prior to beginning their MPH courses in order to verify that a student meets the academic standards needed to proceed to MPH study. These standards are outlined on Daemen’s MPH website and include a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0. The GRE requirement for the dual degree will be waived for students who have taken the PCAT exam.
D’Youville students approved to begin their MPH professional phase of study are required to complete, beginning in their third year, a minimum of 15 graduate credit hours at Daemen in order to complete the MPH degree in one year after graduating from D’Youville. All MPH courses at Daemen begin at 4pm or later, and provide an opportunity for students to continue to complete courses at D’Youville while completing MPH courses at Daemen. A tuition waiver is provided by Daemen College for two (2) courses, PH 510 and PH 500, to be completed in the fall of the student’s third professional year that counts for elective credit in the PharmD program. MPH course grades of B- or better with an overall cumulative GPA in MPH courses of 3.0 by the end of the fourth year is required to continue in the MPH program.
Each year, Daemen will set aside a minimum of five seats which will be reserved for D’Youville students who meet admissions criteria and are accepted into the dual degree program.

Accreditation Disclosure Statement
The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredits Doctor of Pharmacy programs offered by Colleges and Schools of Pharmacy in the United States and selected non-US sites. For a Doctor of Pharmacy program offered by a new College or School of Pharmacy, ACPE accreditation generally involves three steps: Pre-candidate accreditation status, Candidate accreditation status, and Full accreditation status. Pre-candidate accreditation status denotes a developmental program that is expected to mature in accord with stated plans and within a defined time period. Pre-candidate accreditation status is awarded to a new program of a College or School of Pharmacy that has not yet enrolled students in the professional program and authorizes the School to admit its first class. Candidate accreditation status is awarded to a Doctor of Pharmacy program that has students enrolled but has not yet had a graduating class. Accreditation status is awarded to a program that has met all ACPE standards for accreditation and has graduated its first class. Graduates of a class designated as having Candidate accreditation status have the same rights and privileges of those graduates from a fully accredited program. ACPE conveys its decisions to the various boards of pharmacy and makes recommendations in accord with its decisions. It should be noted, however, that decisions concerning eligibility for licensure by examination or reciprocity reside with the respective state boards of pharmacy in accordance with their state statutes and administrative rules.
Accreditation Status
The Doctor of Pharmacy program of the D’Youville College School of Pharmacy was awarded accreditation status during the June 2014 meeting of the ACPE Board of Directors. Accreditation status was affirmed by the ACPE Board of Directors in June 2016 and is continued until June 2020.
D’Youville College School of Pharmacy’s Doctor of Pharmacy program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, 135 South LaSalle Street, Suite 4100, Chicago, IL 60503, 312/664-3575; FAX 312/664-4652, website www.acpe-accredit.org.
