Welcome to a look at the work of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) at Daemen College!
The unique mission of the VPA is grounded in the fine arts and prepares students through research, practice, and theory to become professionals in the creative sector. VPA’s mission provides essential visual training to students of all majors in the creation and analysis of images in order to navigate an increasingly visual society. Students are prepared to enter an ever-changing society as innovative, productive, and culturally literate citizens.
Our students free the inner artist in themselves, find their voices, and explore their full artistic potential, all while learning the foundations and techniques for a meaningful career in the creative industries. VPA students may pursue: Bachelor of Fine Arts Degrees in: Animation, Graphic Design, Illustration, Visual Arts Education or Studio Arts (Painting or Sculpture), or a Bachelor of Science in Art or Leadership and Entrepreneurship in the Arts. Students may also pursue minors in Graphic Design, Illustration, Applied Theatre, History of Art, or Entrepreneurship.
At its heart, VPA is a community of artists: we regard all our students as artists in training, and our faculty are all professional artists or scholars who lead creative lives beyond the academy. This means that the mentorship our faculty provides is especially meaningful, and we encourage our students to make the most of the connections and creative opportunities such mentorships afford. What you see here provides a small sample of some of the dynamic work by both students and faculty and will be refreshed as newer works become available.
