Daemen University Veterans Services Department provides resources, services, and programs that assist veterans and military-aligned students in succeeding and thriving at Daemen all while keeping them informed on The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Educational Benefits information, eligibility, rules, and regulations. The Veterans Services Department also assists current active and reserve component service members in understanding how to apply for military tuition assistance (milTA) through their respective branches. We welcome students who are active duty members, students who served in the armed services, and student dependents of military service members.

The Foundation 214 Veterans Success Center, located within the Alfiero School of Business, provides coordinated, comprehensive services and programs to support student veterans' academic and life success. The Veterans Success Center provides a contemporary space for veterans programming and workshops with private offices for student veterans to access help with benefits, career coaching, academic advising, mental health supports, referrals, campus linkages, and mentoring.
Support and programs coordinated through the Veterans Success Center are funded through grants from Foundation 214 and the US Department of Education’s Centers of Excellence for Veteran Student Success (CEVSS) program.
The Nancy Haberman Gacioch Center for Veterans, located on the first floor of Duns Scotus (DS131) directly across from the athletic department, provides a lounge area and study space for student veterans and military-aligned students (MAS) to take a break and/or connect with like-minded individuals on campus. The Center for Veterans is available whenever Duns Scotus is open and accessible using your swipe card. In this space, you will find computers, printers, desks, tables, and whiteboards along with a full-size refrigerator.
Accelerated Business Online Veterans Education
Daemen University is proud to announce our new ABOVE (Accelerated Business Online Veteran Education) program for Veterans. The ABOVE program is an accelerated, online degree program that is perfect for military students looking to complete their bachelor's degree online in an innovative new format that combines tests for college credit and online classes.
The following policies and procedures are of primary concern to veterans, servicepersons, members of
guard and selected reserves, and other eligible persons who receive VA educational benefits while
enrolled at the University.
In accordance with Title 38 US Code 3679 subsection (e}, this school adopts the following additional
provisions for any students using U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs {VA} Post 9/11 G.I. Bill® (Ch. 33} or
Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (Ch. 31) benefits, while payment to the institution is pending
from the VA. This school will not:
- Prevent the student’s enrollment;
- Assess a late penalty fee to;
- Require student secure alternative or additional funding;
- Deny their access to any resources (access to classes, libraries, or other institutional facilities}
available to other students who have satisfied their tuition and fee bills to the institution.
Covered individuals are permitted to attend or participate in the course of education during the period
beginning on the date on which the individual provides to the university a certificate of eligibility for
entitlement to education assistance under Chapter 31 or 33 , and ending on the earlier of the following
dates:
- The date on which payment from the VA is made to the institution.
- 90 days after the date the institution certified tuition and fees following the receipt of the certificate of eligibility.
To qualify for this provision, covered individuals may be required to:
- Provide Chapter 33 Certificate of Eligibility (or its equivalent} or for Chapter 31, VA VR&E’s contract with the school on VA Form 28-1905 by the first day of class
- Provide written request to be certified;
- Provide additional information needed to properly certify the enrollment as described in other institutional policies.
Note: Chapter 33 students can register at the VA Regional Office to use E-Benefits to get the equivalent
of a Chapter 33 Certificate of Eligibility. Chapter 31 student cannot get a completed VA Form 28-1905
(or any equivalent} before the VA VR&E case-manager issues it to the school.
Daemen University participates in the Principles of Excellence program, and has agreed to the following program guidelines:
- We provide students with a personalized form covering the total cost of an education program
- We provide educational plans for all military and veteran education beneficiaries.
- We pledge to never use fraudulent or aggressive recruiting techniques nor misrepresent what our University has to offer
- We accommodate servicemembers and reservists absent due to service requirements
- We have designated contact personnel to provide academic and financial advice to servicemembers, veterans, and other military-aligned students
- Each Daemen University professional personnel assigned to college admissions, financial aid, student accounts, and the college's registrar departments are specially trained to direct veteran or other military-aligned students to the Veteran Services Department when these students request specific information in their query of the college.
- Additionally, Daemen University professionals shall direct Veterans, Military-Aligned, and Service member students to reach out directly to the Educational Services Officer, if necessary. NYELR.VBABUFF@va.gov / 888-442-4551.
- We have aligned institutional refund policies with those under Title IV, which governs the administration of federal student financial aid programs.

Yellow Ribbon Program
Daemen University is designated as a Yellow Ribbon College Program participant. Incoming Daemen students may be eligible for lower tuition rates and other undergraduate fees under the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
